History of the idea: From design brief to the bottom lineTechnology is an enabler and not the end result. That's one of the reasons behind the fascination with it. One objective for the design process is to find ways to make interaction with the technology as transparent as possible. To transform the technology into an experience or adventure. At the drawing office, the effort to design for transparancy is also led by our aim to always look beyond the product itself and into the sourroundings. To develop solutions that let the product slip into the home or where it is meant to live it's life.
If not completely unnoticed then at least quietly and with a mimetic effect not unlike that found in nature, where certain animals assume the colors and patterns of their environment. The object is there for those who wants to look at it and investigate it, but at the same time camoflaged, purely deflecting the gaze.
