When the smoking of a cigarette was still popular at social events in the home, lighting the guests' cigarettes was done with a table lighter. A lighter which had its place on a table.It did not disappear in a pocket, in a drawer or amongst the pillows in the sofa. It had the size, the looks, the authority to belong to the table. David Lewis wanted the remote control Beo 1 to be just like that!
It should not light cigarettes, but instead be able to immediately lighten up the tv set.
And it should always be easy to find. Beo 1 was not intended to be hold in the hand while a programme was being watched. Only when it was in use. When it was not used, it should be found on the table!
